The following documents are required to be kept on board Panamanian flag vessels (where not exempted otherwise):

NATIONAL DOCUMENTS

- Provisional or Reglamentary Navigation Patente

- Radio License or Permit

- Panamanian Officers Licenses and Seamen's Cards

- Panamanian Tonnage Certificate

- Annual Tax Receipts

- Minimum Safe Manning Certificate (above 200GRT)

- Certificate of Crew Accommodation (above 500GRT)

- Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft (above 500GRT)

OFFICIAL BOOKS

- Official Log Book (Deck Log Book)

- Official Crew Roll

- Oil Record Book

- Garbage Book

- Sewage Book

- GMDSS Book


These official books have to be on board and need to be opened and legalized by a Panamanian Consul.

INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTS AND SAFETY CERTIFICATES

Vessels less than 500 GRT must comply with Panamanian Decree No.45 of 21 December 1981, which requires


- a Cargo Ship Safety Certificate

- a Cargo Ship Radiotelephony Certificate


Vessels of 500 GRT and above are required to have on board the statutory certificates called for the IMO Conventions in force and adopted by the Republic of Panama.

SAFETY INSPECTIONS

An annual safety inspection of Panamanian flag vessels is required.


These inspections are carried out by authorized inspectors of the Merchant Marine having the necessary background authorizationnd experience.


Without the express authorization of this office the annual safety inspection cannot be performed.
