Final Registry (patent) and final Radio License are issued for a term of four years and can only be granted upon presentation of all required documents.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

It starts with a request for provisional registration, once all payments and documents needed are provided.


A temporary navigation documents (License + Patent) will be issued for a term of six months.


During this time all required documents have to be provided, otherwise navigation documents extension will apply.


FEE TO BE PAID EACH YEAR

- Government taxes (mostly the same amount paid on registration)

- Annual vessel survey expenses

- Expenses and fees applicable to renewal documents if needed

VESSELS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING MANUFACTURED

Temporary Registration of vessels that are in the process of being manufactured is possible. A request letter is needed for this type of registration. Only the registration fees have to be paid at this moment, the remaining fees and taxes should be cancelled at the delivery of the vessel.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS (to be supplied to obtain a Temporary License and Patent)

- Registration form to be completed by the buyer or owner


- Original Bill of Sale and Acceptance of Sale or Building Construction Certificate


- Power of Attorney

2 different types of POA: one showing that the seller have the power from his company to sell the vessel; the other is from the Buyer to a Panamanian Lawyer for legal representation of the vessel.


- Deletion Certificate or previous register

We need copy of Deletion Certificate to proceed with the temporary registration, and later we’ll need original deletion fully legalized to obtain a Full Term/Statutory Navigation Documents of the vessel.

Normally the Seller should request a Letter of Undertaking from the ship register with the commitment that a Deletion Certificate will be issued soonest after closing.

The vessel must be up to date in regards with its fiscal obligations.


- Technical description of the vessel


- Previous Radio License or Radio License application


- Signed Sale Agreement


- For vessel above 500GRT: Technical Certificates (ISPS & ISM Code). The Technical Certificates are the following: DOC (Document of Compliance), SMC (Safety Management Certificate), ISSC (International Ship Security Certificate) and CSR (Continuous Synopsis Record).
